This retired couple moved to Sherwood to be near their young grandchildren and wanted a kitchen that was family-friendly, flexible space. The kitchen / great room needed to be able to accommodate family dinners with their grown children and grandchildren, but double as open play space when they babysit. We created a super functional kitchen with a roll out dining table and concealed bench below it. The raised barĀ  provides extra dining space and helps to attractively screen the sink area from the adjacent living space. The kitchen is arranged by work zones to allow multiple people to handle tasks without bumping into each other. In fact, a family friend, and former professional chef, rated this “a five butt kitchen“! Yes, that’s a direct quote. The cabinet material is a beautiful, durable, and maintenance-free textured laminate. Pull out pantry cabinets on either side of the microwave maximize storage space. The glass backsplash tile adds a beautiful splash of swirling teal.
