Many people dream about creating their ideal business and the perfect environment, but it can be a challenge to turn that vision into reality. So, when Caroline Parker decided to create a hair salon that reflected her personal aesthetic and would be a relaxing, enjoyable environment for her clients in a sleek and efficient space, she turned to Pangaea Interior Design for help. When she found a great potential space in The Bindery, a building converted from a former book binding business, we started by creating a layout to be sure she could fit in three styling stations, a shampoo station and a dispensary. We then created a design concept that blended industrial style with warm, natural live edge wood. Custom designed styling stations made from slabs of reclaimed Douglas Fir and steel were fabricated by local artisans. The styling chairs are custom upholstered in a combination of smooth and textured taupe metallic vinyl for a warm contemporary look that is durable and easy to keep clean. The entryway features chairs upholstered in a rich turquoise and the light-filled space is enhanced with art from local artists.
