Because each client’s needs are different, we’ve come up with two different ways of providing design services to you. We offer “flat fee” services or open-end hourly rates.

Initial Design Consultation: We charge a two hour minimum for an Initial Design Consultation. During this first visit we really get down to business in a hurry. My goal is to answer your most pressing design questions. It is also the time when we get to know each other and make sure that we are a good fit to work together. Through an in-depth discussion of your preferences, desires and needs, we will set priorities for your project and determine what the immediate and future steps should be to achieve the space of your dreams.  I’m happy to say that my clients are always amazed and delighted by how much we achieved at this first meeting.

Flat Fee Design Services: If you have a large project, then during the Initial Design Consultation, we will determine the full scope of work needed for your specific design goals. I will then establish a flat fee for the project based on the amount of work you’ll need me to do and a Design Agreement is drawn up. I find that clients appreciate knowing exactly what they will get for their money. The flat fee will only change if you add to the project’s scope of work, or change the goals.

Hourly Design Services: After our Initial Design Consultation, for smaller projects you may just need a little bit of help here and there. For very small projects we can simply proceed on an as-needed basis @ $125 per hour.

Paint Color Consultation: Have you made countless trips to the paint store and still can’t decide on the right color? Do you have spots of paint samples painted all over your walls and still aren’t sure what to pick? For clients who simply need help choosing paint colors only and have no other design questions, I offer those consultations at $150 for the first hour and then $125 per hour thereafter. On average, I find that most paint color consultations run about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Paint colors can be very tricky and not all designers know how to specify paint. If you are having difficulty selecting your wall colors and need someone to help you find exactly the right shade and to help you create a nice flow of colors throughout your home — either interior or exterior — then you’ll find this service invaluable! Colors look so different in the paint store compared to how they look in your home. So, I bring a huge selection of extra large size color samples right to your home so colors can be seen in your home’s specific light and surroundings.

Space Planning: I can help you decide the best use of your space – determine optimal furniture placement – customize storage solutions to fit what you need

Remodeling Kitchen & Bath: If you are ready for the kitchen or bath of your dreams, I use my design expertise and my resources and network of top notch contractors and vendors to create a kitchen or bath that you will love to use every day! I am a member of the Portland Home Builders Association and the Professional Remodelers Organization, so I have the contacts it takes to pull a project like this together.

Furniture & Accessory Selection: I use my full range of resources to find just the right furniture in the right colors, styles and sizes. I also have access to “To the Trade” resources for unique items that add a real designer touch.

Custom Furniture Design: Often, the exact right piece of furniture or cabinetry just doesn’t exist. Why “make do” with something that really isn’t quite right? I have developed a wonderful group of local furniture craftsmen, artisans, upholsterers, metal & wood workers, and custom cabinetry builders so that I can create exactly what you want — exactly!

Art Selection & Display: The importance of selecting and properly displaying art in your home is often under-estimated. More than just about anything else, art that you love and that is displayed to its best advantage creates an environment that uniquely reflects your individual taste and personality. I help clients find and correctly display wall art and sculptural pieces that they love to live with. I have also helped clients with unique art commissioned just for them.

Window Treatments: To address your needs for privacy, light control, style, and energy conservation, I offer a full range of custom solutions for  your windows using drapery, blinds, shutters or a combination.

Fixtures & Finishes Selection: Whether you are planning a major or minor remodeling project or are involved with a new home construction, the selection of kitchen & bath fixtures – flooring – countertop & backsplash materials and wall coverings will affect the functionality of your home on a daily basis. The wrong choices here can be a very expensive mistake. With a bewildering array of options on the market, I can help you cut through the overwhelming number of decisions to find the choices just right for you.

Paint Color Consultation: I provide in-home specification of color, brand & finish – alternative options – environmentally friendly options. I also help clients decide whether or not to paint accent walls and where to place which colors for interiors and exteriors.

Lighting Solutions: Proper lighting gives your home a beautiful ambiance and helps you perform tasks like food preparation, putting on your make-up, or reading. I can create whole house plans for lighting fixtures and free standing lamps – ambient, task and accent lighting.

Room Re-Design: $150 per hour** – 4 hour minimum. This is ideal for people who like their furniture but would like to freshen the look, or may just need help to find the optimal furniture arrangement. This service includes a team of 2 trained designers.  ** Additional fees apply to move heavy furnishings or to move furniture up or down stairs.
