To create a pair of beautiful accent chairs for my client who loves modern furniture, but has a more transitional home, I created this modern interpretation of traditional style. Inspired by the classic Klismos chair I designed these chairs with a wide and generously proportioned seat with room to curl up. The back wraps around you far enough and at the perfect height so that you can rest your arms on it.The silky shine of the fabric and rich texture belie the fact that it is “contract grade”, durable enough for use in commercial spaces. Creating an original design starts with a sketch of the idea. Working closely with experts in furniture making and upholstery, a mock-up frame is built and then padded for a sit test where we refine as necessary and assure that the design is comfortable. Only after we are sure the client is satisfied with dimensions and cushion firmness, does the final frame get built with upholstery going on as the final touch. Made right here in Portland, these chairs will give a lifetime of enjoyment.
